Behind the Scenes: Watercolor

Watercolor is a favorite medium of the Lacefield design team... it is one of the most efficient ways to translate a design idea or inspiration onto paper.  The designers love the fluidity and organic nature of watercolor paint.  The effect of watercolor is much softer than using pencil or marker and the cleanup is so much easier than working with acrylic or oil based paints.  Anne, who has been a designer at Lacefield for seven years, loves working with watercolors so much that she paints animal portraits and amazing architectural renderings in her spare time!

Color Craving

Sometimes a room just needs a little pop of color to breathe new life into the space.  A simple bouquet of pink flowers, a great piece of blue and white pottery, or a classically styled colorful pillow will do the trick. How do you add a touch of color to your favorite rooms?

Show & Tell: LionheARTisans

We are so excited to share with you some of the amazing products that have been made by the talented students of an Atlanta area school - using bits and scraps of fabrics that are left over from the extensive lineup of products we manufacture here at Lacefield Designs.  When company founder Beth Lacefield donated bags of fabric remnants to be used for craft projects at The Lionheart School, she had no idea they would be reimagined into such stunning pillows and art!

The Lionheart School is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 2000 by some of the Southeast's leading Early Childhood Education Professionals and a group of families unable to find a school or program that fit the needs of their children.  The goal was to provide a unique learning environment for children with autism and other challenges of relating and communicating.

LionheARTisans is a cottage industry that uses student artwork to create books, framed pieces, pillows and other decorative accessories that are marketed and sold by the students of The Lionheart School.  According to the US Department of Education, students with disabilities are more likely to be competitively employed if they receive adequate vocational training.  Lionheart strives to provide educational and independent life skills for a successful transition to the workplace and to a fullfilling, productive life.
